Basic Care of your Cast Iron Fireplace

Coat your cast iron fireplace with 3 in 1 oil. This should be applied in a thin layer, as and when required.
If rust appears on your cast iron fireplace use a fine wire wool, and then re-oil.
Cast iron surfaces should not be exposed to moisture.
Special paste (e.g. Zeebrite) can be used to enhance the finish of black cast iron fireplaces. Simply buff the surface to bring out the beauty of the cast iron.
Avoid using spray polish
In normal use you may find discolouration of the cast iron 'burn area', which is quite normal and nothing to worry about.
